By Rail or Bus The nearest local Railway Station is Windermere, less than half a mile away, and the West Coast Main Line Station is Oxenholme, which is just over ten miles. There is a National Express Coach Stop at Windermere Railway Station. A Taxi Rank is outside the Railway Station but should you wish we will be happy to pre-book a taxi on your behalf. By Car: - Leave the M6 at junction 36. - Follow the A591 to Windermere (do not leave A591). - When you arrive at Windermere, turn left at the Nat West bank and follow the one way system through the village for the Lake. - After about 800 metres turn left into Thornbarrow Road, immediately after the pedestrian crossing. - Thornbank is 30 metres further up on the left. We have a blue sign. Car parking is available at the house. By Train: - The mainline connection to Windermere is Oxenholme. The connection from Oxenholme to Windermere takes 20 minutes. Car hire can be arranged for delivery to Windermere station or Thornbank House.

Our traditional Lakeland house with character offers a warm welcome and relaxed atmosphere. It is only a few minutes’ walk from the centre of Windermere village and railway station. The Ravensworth is a 19th century traditional stone guest house with easy access to the many attractions of the Lake District National Park. It is very close to shops and restaurants. There is ample space to relax in our lounge, dine in our charming conservatory or chill-out on the terrace. There is a pub only a few minutes’ walk away. Every room is centrally heated and each has its own en suite bath/shower, colour television, hair dryer and radio alarm with iPod dock. Complimentary refreshments are offered to morning and afternoon arrivals. Our aim is to make your stay as enjoyable and relaxing as possible. Our hope is that no one leaves disappointed.

Turn off the M6 Motorway at Junction 36 onto the A590 (A591) to Kendal & Windermere. Follow the dual carriageway to the large roundabout just outside Kendal. Carry on along the A591 to Windermere. After passing the village sign stay on the main road, ignoring the sign into the town centre, and The Ravensworth is about 500 metres on the left, just before the doctors surgery and church.
