Built in approximately 1920 for Sir John and Lady Cargill, Ard-na-Coille is a stunning former hunting lodge which retains many of its original features, including a beautiful original sandstone fireplace. Ard-na-Coille featured in the popular Monarch of the Glen BBC TV programme as Glenbogle Golf Club. Many of the cast members stayed in the guest house during the filming of the series. Ard-na-Coille has been refurbished to a very high standard and we look forward to welcoming you to our beautiful guest house. Newtonmore is situated in the heart of the Cairngorm National Park, surrounded by the Cairngorm, Monadhliath mountain ranges and the River Spey. It is one of the most beautiful areas of the Scottish Highlands. There is something for everyone, including golf, fishing, pony trekking, deer stalking, the steam railway, skiing, water sports, Highland games, distilleries, castles, bird watching, mountain biking and walking. With snow capped mountains in the winter and an abundance of wildlife in the spring, the area presents breathtaking scenery all year round. Highland Folk Museum (0.5 km) - Explore an early 18th century farming township, reconstructed using traditional building methods. Its turf houses are furnished with box beds, traditional cruisie lamps and open peat fires. Go back to school in the 1930s and see a working croft.

The Wildcat Trail - A 10 kilometre walk around the outskirts of the village, where you can take in the rivers, waterfalls and hills. Three Munros - Conquer Carn Sgulain, A' Chailleach [Monadh Liath], and Carn Dearg [Monadh Liath]. Waltzing Waters - A water and light show to music. Highland Folk Museum - A working museum of the past a 10 minute walk away. A 5 minute walk can bring you to the golf course. The River Spey is a 10 -15 minute walk away, and permits for fishing are available locally. Tennis courts and a bowling green are just across the road.

By Car - Newtonmore is off the A9. - Glenavon House is in the centre of the village, on the main street. It is clearly signed. By Coach/Rail - Newtonmore has a station and mainline bus links between Glasgow/Edinburgh and Inverness. By Air The nearest airport is Inverness, which is about one hour’s drive.

The restaurant can seat up to 150 people comfortably. There is a friendly, welcoming atmosphere and views over woodland. Set within the Cairngorm National Park, this small, family-run guest house offers the ideal base from which to explore the wonderful mountain ranges of Cairngorm and Monadh Liath. A comfortable and modern home, Creag Meagaidh stands in the village of Newtonmore, which has a wonderful circular route around it called the Wildcat Trail. This is a fabulous walk (or run) with great views of the River Spey, the Cairngorm Mountains, Creag Dubh, woodlands, waterfalls and all sorts of wildlife. For moments of relaxation, the house has a secluded patio area at the rear. There is also ample parking space to the front of the house, and a secure cleaning and storage area for bikes, skis and other equipment.
