From the South: - Follow the A66 west for half an hour, bypasing Keswick and continue alongside Bassenthwaite Lake to Cockermouth. - Turn left at the roundabout onto the A5086. The Shepherds Hotel and Lakeland Sheep and Wool Centre are on your left hand side. From the North: - Exit the M6 at junction 44 heading west through Carlisle onto the A595. - Bypass Cockermouth and turn left onto the A66. - Turn right at the next roundabout onto the A5086. The Shepherds Hotel is on your left hand side.

Professionally run, you will be well looked after by our team of dedicated staff. The hotel is a listed building of some architectural interest. Dating back to the 17th Century, the most famous mutineer in history, Fletcher Christian, after seeing his crewmates slain by Tahitian natives was said to have escaped on a ship with one Captain Folger and returned to Cockermouth. Rumour has it that he returned to the house that is now The Allerdale Court Hotel. Now family owned and run, we pride ourselves on the warm hospitality, good food and the constant attention to detail that are the hallmarks of The Allerdale Courts friendly and dedicated staff. We have 21 en-suite bedrooms (all with colour tv, radio, telephone and hospitality tray). From the East: Scotch Corner a66 to Cockermouth. From the South: m6 to j40 (Penrith) then a66 to Cockermouth. From the North: Either from Carlisle on a595, or on m6 to j40 (Penrith) then a66. Scenic route from the South (slower route): From m6 to j36 (Kendal) then a591 to Keswick, then a66 to Cockermouth. Once you are in Cockermouth, drive to the end of Main Street, over the bridge and turn on the first right. The Allerdale Court is immediately on the left hand side in Market Place.

Leave the m6 at Penrith- junction 40. Travel West along the a66 for 30 miles by-passing Keswick and Cockermouth. (Or from leaving Carlisle, travel along the a595 by-passing Cockermouth.) From the roundabout after Cockermouth, stay on the A66 in the direction of Workington for 1 mile. Take the first right off the A66 to Great Broughton. Cross the River Derwent and drive up the short steep hill straight ahead where the main road swings left. Turn right at the top of the hill to a warm welcome at Broughtan Craggs Hotel.
