The cuisine at Burford Lodge is traditional English, occasionally with European influences, given an imaginative twist by our specialist chefs. The menu is complemented by a list of specially selected fine wines. All the vegetables prepared by our chefs are organic (where available) and sourced from independent local suppliers. Our aim is to give you the comfort of an affordable dining experience in the heart of the cotswolds. We offer fish specials menu which is delivered fresh on a daily basis. We also offer Pierre Chaude cooking - Hot stones at your table! - a standard dessert offering is our chocolate fountain (proving to be very popular with young and old alike!).

This ancient inn, originally built in 1420 as a weaver's cottages, is in complete harmony with its delightful situation in the Cotswolds. The phrase ‘charming old inn’ is used much too freely, but the Lamb has a genuine right to it. Lined with trees and cool green lawns, behind which are set picturesque Cotswold limestone homes reflecting the historic affluence of the town, Sheep Street is the setting for the Lamb Inn. From its wisteria-clad walls, stone-flagged bar, charming dining room to beautifully refurbished bedrooms, the Lamb has been delightfully restored to create the comfort of today, whilst retaining the atmosphere of yesteryear.

The Lamb Inn has 17 bedrooms, each with an individual character and decorated in warm traditional colours, with fine (often antique) furniture for a true country feel. The bedrooms have been designed to make you feel pampered and cosseted, giving you views onto the quiet, leafy lanes of Burford or onto the peaceful courtyard and garden of the hotel. The Allium Room is a newly refurbished super deluxe double room with a roll top bath and plasma screen TV in the bathroom. Rosie is a superior double room, newly refurbished with its own private garden. The Shepherd Room is a superior double room with a four-poster bed for that special occasion. The Barn Room is a superior double with an elegant half-tester bed. There are superior double, twin and standard double rooms. The peaceful location of the Lamb Inn means that whichever room you choose, you can be sure of a quiet, restful night’s sleep. This 17th century Cotswold coaching inn overlooking the rolling countryside continues to enhance its reputation for good food in a relaxed, traditional setting. Now under the direction of chef/Proprietor Matthew Sharp and his wife Heather, the inn has been in the Sharp family for over 20 years. Matthew is a classically trained chef and has worked in some of the best London hotels. He puts together a daily changing menu that takes advantage of local produce. The inn also specialises in fish and shellfish, all sourced in Brixham. The 10 en suite double and twin rooms (including a lovely four poster room) are all different and boast pleasant views. The Inn is ideally situated between Oxford and Cheltenham, and just to the west of Buford; the gateway to the Cotswolds. Bibury, Bourton-on-the-Water, Stow-on-the-Wold and Chipping Norton are all very close and well worth a visit.

Leather winged back chairs adorn the bar around the open log fires.Our 30 seater restaurant is furnished with antique furniture and comfortable high back leather chairs.The Residents lounge has its own log fire and is a peacful place to unwind after your journey or dinner .Breakfast is served in our coservatory that overlooks the gardens to the rear of the Inn.Private parties and small gatherings our catered for in our windrush room.

By Car: Burford is off the A40, 22 miles form Oxford and 20 miles from Cheltenham. Junction 8 on the M40 is 26 miles away. The Bay Tree Hotel is situated on Sheep Street, which is just off Burford High Street. When driving down the High Street, take the first left by the Tolsey Museum; the hotel is 200 yards further along on the right-hand side. When driving up the High Street, Sheep Street is the 2nd turning on the right-hand side. There is an ample car park situated at the end of the driveway between the hotel buildings. Reception located by either the main entrance on Sheep Street or the first doorway on the left when coming down the driveway. By Train: The nearest station is Charlbury, which is 8 miles away. Direct trains from London Paddington take approximately one hour. Taxis are normally available at the station.
