Children aged 6 and under have their own menu of personal favourites which they are asked to enjoy between 17:00 and 18:00. We have a selection of games, 6 acres of grounds to explore and an indoor heated pool. With advance notice we can provide cots and provide a babysitting service for GBP 6 per hour. As part of our continuous improvement plan at Lindeth Howe, from the beginning of May, we are commencing a process of painting the outside of the hotel. It is a major task but absolutely essential to protect walls and woodwork against the weather. Work of this nature is totally weather-dependent and we are not able to accurately judge when it will be finished. What we have agreed with the contractors is that the building will not be totally shrouded in scaffolding. It will be erected in small stages and will not impede views from the hotel rooms. Also, work will not commence early in the day and will not be intrusive. I do hope you will bear with us whilst we complete these works and that it in no way reduces the enjoyment of your stay with us.

Elim House was built in 1849 as a gentleman's residence and as such is full of character, and has it's own little idiosyncracies, in fact it still has the stable room where the horses for the owner's carriage were kept. Some guest bedrooms are in an annexe that used to be a hayloft but has been brought into the 21st century with great creativity. Some rooms have beams and some are on the second floor. Please note that as it is not a custom built hotel there is no lift.

Paisley's Restaurant takes its name from Sir Thomas Paisley, who was the original owner of the house. He was an Admiral in the Royal Navy, and chose this beautiful site to build his retirement home in 1848. The views from the restaurant are spectacular, overlooking Lake Windermere, the Langdale Pikes, Claife Heights and surrounding mountains. Our chef prides himself on his interesting and imaginative cuisine, mixing the best of English and Continental fayre, using where possible local produce. A wide selection of dishes are always available, and as a speciality of the house we have Flambe at your table, perhaps Scampi in Pernod or Steak Diane, Crepe Suzette or Cherries in Brandy. .
