Blackpool Zoo (3 km / 1.5 miles) - Blackpool Zoo is an excellent family day out and is located opposite Blackpool's main park, Stanley Park. Tickets can be purchased at the Zoo. Illuminations (0 km / 0 miles) - The illuminations are 9.6 km (6 miles) of lights that run along the promenade. Make sure you see the showpiece tableaux displays in the North Shore area. The 2008 illuminations run from 29 August to 02 November. This is a free attraction.

By Car: - Go to the very end of the M55 motorway (do not take the North Shore Exit). - At the end of the motorway, go into the far right line and go straight across the first roundabout (has modern statue in middle). - Continue down the 'walled' road and go straight across the first mini roundabout. - Go past the main car parks, the large Blackpool statues and Blackpool FC. - At the car park exit, turn left (you cannot go right), then left again towards the promenade at Coral Island. - At the promenade traffic lights, go right. - Go along the promenade, passing the Tower, Hilton and Imperial Hotel until you come to the large Gynn Roundabout. - Proceed across the roundabout, staying on the promenade, and turn up before the Savoy Hotel onto Willshaw Road.

By Car - Leave the M6 at J32 (M55). At the end of the M55 is a roundabout. Take the 1st exit. After another 50 yards there is another roundabout - take the 3rd exit. Follow dual carriageway for approx 3 miles to the seafront. Turn right at the final set of traffic lights. Follow coast road (sea on your left) past South, Central & North Piers. Go past the Metropol Hotel (on your left) and turn immediately right into Bank Street. After 50 yards there is a crossroads - go straight over. After 25 yards another crossroads - turn right into Lord Street. The hotel is approx 25 yards down on the right.

Phoenix Guest House is fully central heated, with each room having tea/coffee facilities, TV and towels an iron, and a hairdryer on request. Recently refurbished rooms sleep from one to 5 people. By Train Take the train to North Shore station, and walk towards the Promenade/town centre until Dickson Road. The hotel has just been fully refurbished and upgraded to what we consider is a premier standard, and comprises of 15 bedrooms (singles, doubles, & twin rooms) all with en suite facilities. There is a sun lounge to sit and relax in, a lounge bar with evening bar menu, and two dining rooms where we serve a choice of Continental or full English breakfast. The two dining rooms are decorated in a French cafe style and can be used for small receptions or business functions. There is a lift to all floors except the top floor. We have a non-smoking policy throughout the hotel.

Follow M55 signs for North Shore. You will eventually come onto the North Shore Promenade. Head towards Cleveleys/Fleetwood and follow the front till you come to Gynn Square roundabout. Take the 1st turning off the roundabout onto Queens Promenade. Drive along the front for approx 1 mile and you will come to a set of major traffic lights. The hotel is the first hotel 60yds on the right past the traffic lights.

By Car: From the M55: - When approaching Blackpool from the M55 do not take the Blackpool exit, instead continue and follow signs for the car parks. - Drive straight through the car parks and this will bring you out on Central Drive by Coral Island. - Turn left at Coral Island to go onto the sea front. - At the sea front, turn right and travel past Blackpool Tower, the North Pier and the Metropole Hotel. - Just after the Metropole Hotel, turn right into Cocker Street and go straight on over Dickson Road and Lord Street. - You will then come to a public house called The Mount Pleasant. - Turn right and Lynmar is located 5 houses down on the right. From the M55 (junction 4): recommended during the Blackpool Illuminations. - Leave the M55 at junction 4, signposted for Blackpool and the North Shore. - At roundabout, take the 3rd exit onto Preston New Road (A583, signposted for Blackpool). - Go straight ahead and at the end of Whitegate Drive, continue straight onto Park Road and again follow the road through to the end. - At the end of Park Road turn left (you have no choice as its a one-way system). - Move into the centre lane in order to turn right at the next set of lights 50 metres ahead onto Cookson Street. - Follow Cookson Street until you get to the 2nd set of traffic lights and move into the right-hand lane. - Turn left staying in the right hand lane which turns right at the Wilkinson shop. - Now move over into the left lane which is Dickson Road. - Just after the Zebra crossing turn right onto Cocker Street (you will see the Cosy Corner Cafe on the right, opposite a small church). - Drive along across Lord Street and at the next street (High Street), you will see The Mount Pleasant pub on the left corner. - Turn right and Lynmar are 5 doors down on the right. By Rail: When you arrive at Blackpool North Station, exit via the back exit located on the right, as you leave the platform. You will see the High Street on your right. Continue down and Lynmar is located 350 metres down on the left.
