The Residence began life in 1796 as Ormond Lodge, part of a local estate. During its existence, it has reputedly been one of the homes of exiled Emperor Haile Selassie during the 1930s. Several public rooms await you, including a very traditional library, where deep red walls and dark mahogany furniture complement oak floors. Lots of books, an internet access point, sofas, desk, study table and chairs and sumptuous soft furnishings are all on hand. The Conservatory operates as a bar and occasional brunch room. When the weather is right sun streams into this stunning area, which seats 24 as a bar or 14 as a meeting room. Full audio-visual equipment, including a giant pull down screen and sound system, as well as a heated paved outside deck for the warmer times. The garden is also available with its beautiful Italianate terrace with boule piste, croquet lawn, 2 fountains and a stunning summer house, which offers a cosy escape from the world.

These both lie on the recreation ground which was a gift to the people of Bath from a wealthy landowner. It remains a greenbelt in the heart of the city. The County is a listed building, therefore is does not have a lift (elevator). There is also no porter. Bedrooms are situated on the first and second floor. Parking is available on site at no extra charge. On the day of departure all cars must be removed by 11:00. The County does have a general night porter on duty.

Bristol Temple Meads is just 15 minutes away by train. By Coach: Frequent National Express services run from London Victoria Coach Station, London Heathrow and London Gatwick to Bath. From the airport: Bristol International Airport is just 15 miles from Bath. A Flyer Express coach service picks up passengers outside the airport every 30 minutes, from 06.00 - 23.45, 7 days a week. The bus then drops passengers at Bristol Temple Meads Station, where you can catch one of the many frequent train services into Bath (journey time approximately 15 minutes). A coach service also runs from Gatwick via Heathrow to the train station at Reading, where you can pick up a direct train to Bath.

By Car: From Bristol: - After the dual carriageway, take the Lower Bristol Road (A36) into the city, through 2 sets of traffic lights. - Follow the one-way system and the signs for the A36. - Weave under the railway, around the back of the station and pass the Menzies Hotel on your left. - At the next set of traffic lights, proceed ahead under the railway bridge, go straight over the next roundabout and then turn right into Sydney Place (by the Holburne Museum). - The entrance to The Bath Spa Hotel is 180 metres (200 yards) up the hill on the right hand side. This inn nestles in the peaceful village of Monkton Combe, surrounded by picturesque hills and valleys. Recently refurbished accommodation houses 7 luxury bedrooms with bathrooms or showers. There are 5 doubles, one twin and one single room. The pub offers an informal area to relax with a drink or dine. Menus are changed regularly and include bar snacks, light lunches and a la carte selections. Local ingredients are used where possible. You can relax with a drink by the open fire or in the garden. Our 2 buildings were originally constructed by William Harold, a carpenter, who built a house and workshop around 1750. In 1871, William Harold III converted the house into a public house and in 1981, the workshops were converted into bed and breakfast accommodation. A full history is available when you come and visit. Experience this beautiful part of the country from The Wheelwrights Arms.

Conveniently located a few minutes’ walk from the centre of town, this small, friendly guest house presents itself as the ideal base from which to explore the historic town of Bath. Very close to the train station, the house enables you to easily access the Abbey, Roman Baths, the spa and Bath Rugby Ground. In the evenings you can return to the comfort of the house and take advantage of the free Wi-Fi access to keep in contact with family, friends and colleagues (you will need to bring your own wireless-equipped laptop or PDA). All rooms have been extensively refurbished and re-equipped in March 2008, many are en suite and all are equipped with modern facilities

By car from the East or North: - Take the M4 motorway. - Exit at junction 18. - Take the A46 south for Bath. - Follow signs initially for the city centre and then the A4 for Bristol. - After passing through a number of traffic lights and roundabouts you will see a Renault Dealer on the right, turn left opposite this (alongside the Green Park Tavern) into Westmoreland Road. - This becomes Lower Oldfield Park when it passes under the railway bridge. - Roban House (number 26) is 100 metres up the road on the right-hand side. From the South/East: - Take the A36 from Southampton, Salisbury and Warminster into Bath. - On joining the A4 in Bath turn left for Bristol. - After passing through a number of traffic lights and roundabouts you will see a Renault Dealer on the right, then, as above. Free street is available nearby.

For the benefit of others, any guest who smells strongly of tobacco smoke will not be permitted to enter, and any guest who contaminates the room with tobacco smells or other permanent odours will be charged for redecoration and cleaning. Check-in is between 15:00 and 21:00. Check out is between 08:30 and 10:00, except by prior agreement. Roban House does not have a permanently manned reception. This recently fully refurbished Victorian merchant house is a short stroll from the city centre. Bath attractions include the Roman Baths, the Royal Crescent, Assembly Rooms, Theatre Royal and vibrant shopping areas. The city is famous for its splendid Georgian architecture, set within picturesque countryside. This is protected and offers excellent walks along the canal or around the hills on the Skyline Walk. This hotel also offers an ideal base from which to explore Wells, Stonehenge, Salisbury and the Cotswolds. Hotel staff will be pleased to help you plan your excursions by car, tour, or public transport. Number 30 offers clean, light and airy en suite accommodation, tastefully decorated in light pastel colours. An extensive English breakfast is served, as well as vegetarian and healthy options. The hotel is entirely non-smoking.

Take the left lane signposted Bath. - At the roundabout take the 3rd exit Bath (A4). - Continue for one mile passing through several sets of traffic and pedestrian lights. (Beware of the bus lane as you approach the outskirts of the city). - Continue straight through the traffic lights (Morrisons supermarket on your left). - At the next set of traffic lights continue straight ahead. Important: do not turn left at these lights even though the signpost directs all through traffic to do so. - After about 200 yards take the second exit at the mini roundabout along Paragon Buildings. - Continue through the next set of traffic lights and keep to the left hand lane. - Continue straight through the lights passing the Royal York Hotel on your left. - Proceed to the end of the road (George Street) until you are forced to go left. - Continue straight at traffic lights onto Queen Square. Go round 3 sides of the square and exit onto Charlotte Street (signs for Long Term Car Park). - Continue to the end of Charlotte Street (about 300 hundred yards) and join the Upper Bristol Road. - Number 30 is 200 yards along this road on the right hand side. We have a Red Pillar (Post) Box outside the gate.
