This inn nestles in the peaceful village of Monkton Combe, surrounded by picturesque hills and valleys. Recently refurbished accommodation houses 7 luxury bedrooms with bathrooms or showers. There are 5 doubles, one twin and one single room. The pub offers an informal area to relax with a drink or dine. Menus are changed regularly and include bar snacks, light lunches and a la carte selections. Local ingredients are used where possible. You can relax with a drink by the open fire or in the garden. Our 2 buildings were originally constructed by William Harold, a carpenter, who built a house and workshop around 1750. In 1871, William Harold III converted the house into a public house and in 1981, the workshops were converted into bed and breakfast accommodation. North: Leave the m4 at Junction 18, taking the a46 towards Bath. After ten miles exit the dual carriageway following signs to Bath City Centre. At the immediate roundabout take the third exit (right) still towards the city centre. Continue straight on for two miles, through four sets of traffic lights. After you pass Morrisions supermarket on the left, (at the fifth set of lights), get into the left lane and turn left. Cross over the river, passing the fire station and at the lights. Turn right along Sydney Place, passing the Holbourne Museum of Art on your left. At the next large roundabout take the first exit (left). Follow this road up Bathwick Hill and out of Bath for one mile, passing the University. Continue for another mile and half, crossing a small roundabout, Combe Grove Manor is the left, two hundred yards after Ralph Allen School. South: Take the A36 from Warminster heading towards Bath. When you reach the Limpley Stoke Viaduct and traffic light, turn left immediately after the Viaduct Pub. Continue up Brassknocker Hill for 1 mile. Do not turn off in to Monkton Combe; Barceló Combe Grove Manor is on the left half way up the hill opposite a row of cottages.

Awarded 4 stars by the AA under the Guest House Accommodation listing, the 8 rooms overlook the gardens and lawns, and the Avon Valley. The remaining rooms overlook the grounds of Bailbrook House, a splendid Georgian mansion designed by the famous architect John Everleigh. In addition to the delightful terrace, there is an extensive lawn surrounded by mature trees and plants – the perfect setting for a stroll or a quiet drink on a summer's day or evening. From the East: Take the a4, at the junction with the Bath exit take the road to Batheaston. Bailbrook Lodge is on the left-hand side after 50 yards. From the West (Bath City Centre): At the a46/a4 junction, take the road to Batheaston. Bailbrook Lodge is on the left hand side after 50 yards. From the m4: Come off at junction 18 and take a46, come off at Bath exit and at the roundabout turn left to Batheaston, hotel is immediately on the left. From Bath Train Station: Bath Spa railway station is only 7 minutes drive away and, if you do come by train, we will be happy to reimburse you for the cost of a taxi from the station to Bailbrook Lodge.

The sunny south-facing garden is a good place to relax on warmer days, either to recover from the day or to plan the next whilst browsing the wealth of information in the hotel - maps, leaflets and recommendations from previous guests. For a more relaxing moment, why not book a private session in the hot tub? You can order champagne/chocolates/flowers to be in your room on your arrival (at an additional cost). Please let Cranleigh know your estimated time of arrival, so that these can be placed in your room.

En suite rooms have been recently refurbished. Each has been decorated in a contemporary style using neutral color schemes and modern lighting, with wooden Venetian blinds and bright modern pictures. Our new bathrooms have white suites, many with under floor heating. Choose from single, twin, double and large rooms. There are also 2 family rooms, one with access to the garden, the other comprising a divided suite that allows privacy for parents and children.

By Car From the M4 motorway: - Exit at junction 18 and follow the A46 for Bath. - At the 1st roundabout take the 3rd exit for Bristol. - Take 1st left signposted 'Park and Ride'. - At the T junction turn left signed Bath. - Continue past Lansdown Golf Club, Bath Race Course and Blathwayt Arms pub (on the right). - Turn right for Weston and continue following the road, passing RUH hospital on right hand side. - At the mini roundabout, turn left then immediately turn right onto Chelsea Road. - At the bottom of Chelsea Road turn right and Ashley Villa can be seen immediately on the right-hand side of the road after the pedestrian crossing. From the A36 (Warminster Road): - After the dual carriageway, enter Woolverton and after a sharp right-hand bend turn left onto the B3110 for Norton St. Philip. - Take the B3110 through Norton St. Philip, Hinton Charterhouse and continue for a few miles through a set of mini roundabouts. - Pass an Esso garage on the left and turn left for Bristol. - Continue thorough the next mini roundabout, following signs for Bristol (A4). - At the next main roundabout take the 3rd exit onto dual carriageway (A4 Bath) and follow signs for 'Park and Ride'. - Take the first left off the dual carriageway signed Bath, A4, Newbridge and Weston. - Continue over the bridge past 'Park and Ride', along Newbridge Road for around half a mile and Ashley Villa is on the left-hand side.
